The churning white water of a rushing river cut into a perfectly seemless loop. Recorded on location during a video shoot using in camera microphone and then later processed in my daw. Uh-1 helicopter does one flyby then approaches and flies directly overhead. It kicks up some sand as it goes over and then lands on a ship, about 100 meters away. This sound was made by me, i tied down my canon powershot a460 digital camera inside the engine bay of my 1993 rover 620si, and it's got a petrol honda engine, no turbo on this version. I had my video recording on my camera in the engine bay while i was driving. I started the engine up and took it for a drive. I simply took the sound off the video. Modern noise - a quiet kitchen at night in an urban surrounding, and the constant sound of a big samsung fridge. Very distant tv sounds and voices. Recorded with a blue yeti on the floor (omnidirectional mode i think), cut to make it loop cleanly and boosted up a bit with goldwave. I kept it short (less than 2 minutes) to make it easier to manipulate in my video editor timelines. Hope someone finds it useful.

A pair of owls stationed themselves outside my half-basement bedroom window in colorado early this morning around 12am. Unfortunately i only had my phone to capture them with, but it still turned out alright, save for the periodic vox-like breaks when silencing background noise. Just a quick recording before class today. Recorded from a tascam dr-07 mk ii stereo in mp3 192 kbps 48,000 hz, pointed a bit to the sky toward a florida mockingbird about 2 meters away. If you listen closely enough, there's some crows in the bg too. Ambiance sound is the sound of a busy divided highway about 500 meters away. I processed this sound in sony sound forge a bit to remove some of it. Just beware, the sound file contains a slight camera double beep at 9 and 15 seconds, although for student film purposes i don't see any penalty for it. So these are all real reactions to certain things i do, i. E, video games, narrations, etc. Funny story. . . The reason this one is from far away is because while recording a narration, a lovely spider decided to descend from the ceiling, and i flipped out, having decently bad arachnophobia. It also got near my hamster's cage, so naturally i bellowed "die!" when killing it. I'm uh. . . Very passionate about certain things. I myself need genuinely real vocal reactions. This is the soundscape i've recorded in my neighboorhood of cidade tiradentes, a district from são paulo, brazil. We name these events as pancadão (big punch) or fluxo (flow). When a flow occurs, you know that the sound is very high and it invades all surroundings. It happened in april 4, 2021, during our worst period in the the global covid-19 pandemic. Plent of people, vehicles, multiple speakers and so on in a street. I'm writing in the exact moment police came to repress, but in my conclusion only education can solve city problems, not repression, not paliative atitudes. I think this is interesting to share it here, as a cultural manifestation, showing that when the state fails, everyone fails. This is disrespectful at all, but i try to look it as a construction of city. In a country where its president goes for a for a swim at a crowded beach amid 200 thousand pandemic deaths, how can i criticize suburban people?. I'm not conservative, i like the kind of music playing known as"brazilian funk" or "funk carioca", this is our culture, even if i do not participate actively. This sound is a superposition of two records. First, i recorded a coffee machine and cut it to extract just the sound of the money that falls in. Then, i recorded the sound of keys and mix it together on audacity. I wanted to make a sound that can be repeated in a loop. So, i copied the record of the coffee machine to give a rhythm to the sound. I tried to cut the sound of the key perfectly to make a loop with the help of the option “search for crosses with zero”. Then, i added view effects. I have changed the amplification in purpose to bring out more the sound of the coffee machine. I also change the reverberation. Gradually, my sound made me think of a music in a video game that i used to play, rayman. It was difficult to describe what the sound was like, but i liked the atmosphere, so i kept it. Then, a friend told me it made him think of a frog noise, and i liked the idea. This is my recreation of the noise in the background of a video shot on a consumer grade minidv camcorder (a well used one). I haven't had a minidv camcorder on hand for a few years and nobody i knew would give me a recording of just tape motor noise so i went to create the noise myself. This sound is a combination of a very badly pressed dvd in my computer's drive mixed with a tone made in audacity (up one octave from the tone that the disc ended up creating), all mixed down and brought down in volume. I know it's not a prefect recreation, but i don't have a minidv camcorder on hand so this is about as good as i can get it. If anyone has access to an anechoic chamber, a fresh tape, and a well used consumer grade minidv camcorder, please get in touch with me. I'd like the real deal better than my recreation that i did in my spare time. Note on recreating the noise out of hdv camcorders. They have slightly different hardware and as such will create different bearing noise (most times, there's an extra whine on top of the familiar bearing whine heard from standard dv camcorders). I forget the exact frequency, but it's somewhere in the neighborhood of 840hz-860hz and it's a sort of sine wave, but a modest bit more jagged. You'll have to provide your own stock camcorder mic hiss as each camcorder is different (not for definite sure on sony camcorders, but canon camcorders have a pink-ish white noise in about that era).

I took the raw recording and used goldwave's mechanize effect to translate my voice to a center frequency of 14khz. I then demodulated it first at 10. 6 and then 10. 2khz meaning that what comes out is essentially the opposite sideband, offset by 3. 4 and 3. 8khz respectively. 3khz just didn't sound as good.
